Quentin Grimes, SG/PG, Kansas

Composite Ranking: 11

Quentin Grimes is a 6-foot-4 combo guard that will probably maximize his ability in the pros playing at point guard. He’s an explosive athlete, can create separation with good burst, change of speed, and shiftiness.

His already NBA caliber body along with his jumping help him finish at the rim. He needs to work on his jumpshot. Looks extremely streaky, the mechanics have potential to be a fast deadly one motion release, but he needs to work on it.

He probably plays out of position from what scouts want to see on the wing since Kansas does have fellow McDonald’s All-American Devon Dotson at point guard. I’m curious to see how he defends and how his jumpshot consistency develops over his freshman season. With his athleticism, and potential Grimes will certainly be a one and done consideration. He’s probably one of the safer bets outside of the top 3 (Barrett, Reddish, Williamson) and Romeo Langford.
