Philadelphia 76ers: Ersan Ilyasova to join the push for the playoffs
After being bought out by the Atlanta Hawks, Ersan Ilyasova is expected to to join the Philadelphia 76ers and their playoff push
The Philadelphia 76ers are knee-deep in their playoff push, and are looking for every and any reinforcements as they look to break through.
A couple of weeks ago, the Sixers signed Marco Belinelli, who was bought out by the Charlotte Hornets, and will now ink another bought out veteran. According to Shams Charania of Yahoo, recently bought out sharpshooter Ersan Ilyasova is expected to join the Philadelphia 76ers.
During his time with the Hawks this season, Ilyasova was averaging 11 points and six rebounds per game on 36 percent shooting from 3-point range.
Ilyasova played with 53 games with the Sixers last season, where he averaged nearly 15 points and six rebounds per game. He signed a deal with the Hawks this summer, but that clearly didn’t work out.
The Sixers are a middle of the pack 3-point shooting team in the NBA, and it’s pretty clear – with their last two signings – that Philly is/was looking to adding that as the playoff push really heats up.
Philadelphia is currently sitting in the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference, comfortably three games ahead of the Miami Heat in the loss column. They’re also just one game back in the loss column of the 4th seed.
In essence, the East is one big cluster at the moment. And that isn’t expected to change anytime soon. With roughly 20 games remaining in the season, this will likely be a close race until the finish.

The Sixers could use every weapon they could get their hands on. However, if they remain healthy, this is a team that should be in the playoffs. Barring some unforeseen circumstance, they will be.
Ersan Ilyasova isn’t the sexiest of names, but there’s no question a role for him on this team. He should help.
