NBA Rumors: If the New York Knicks elect to move on from Jeff Hornacek, Mark Jackson could be the top candidate to bring in
Once this season ends, the New York Knicks will have not qualified for the NBA playoffs in five years.
The Knicks are in the midst of what looks like will be a long rebuild, and its best – and possibly franchise – player is recovering for a major knee injury. While the expectation is that Kristaps Porzingis will fully recover and be in position to return to his previous form, nothing is certain when it comes to 7-footers and lower leg injuries.
Roster aside, this summer the Knicks also have a big coaching decision to make. Current head coach Jeff Hornacek has one year remaining on his contract after this season, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see New York’s new management elect to bring in their own guy to lead the Knicks into this new ear – Hornacek was hired by Phil Jackson.

And one name that is reportedly “hot” for the Knicks is former Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson.
"[via New York Times]The former Knicks guard Mark Jackson keeps coming up as a hot name to succeed Hornacek, amid a growing belief the Knicks’ new front-office chief — Scott Perry — will want to install his own hand-picked choice heading into next season."
Jackson is most known for being the guy that nearly robbed us from the beautiful basketball that is the current Golden State Warriors. Either that, or he’s one of the most unlucky coaches in NBA history.
The year after Jackson was removed as the team’s head coach, the Warriors blew up and won 67 games and brought home an NBA Finals victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Jackson’s name has been connected to a few other coaching jobs over the last handful of years, but has remained in the media. Jackson played seven seasons with the New York Knicks during his playing career.
