Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr says that’s there’s ‘no way’ the team can expect Stephen Curry to play in the first round of the playoffs
When preparing for life without Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors should expect him to miss the beginning of the playoffs, too, so says head coach Steve Kerr.
With three weeks remaining in the regular season, there was always an outside chance that Curry, who has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his knee, could return by the start of the playoffs.
However, instead of placing that type of pressure on Curry, Kerr is making it clear that the team should prepare as if their starting point guard won’t be back for the start of the playoffs.

In his words, he says theres “no way” that Curry will play in the first round of the playoffs.
"[via NBC Sports]“There’s no way he’s playing he’s playing in the first round. There’s no way,” Kerr told NBC Sports Bay Area. “We’ve got to be ready to play without him and then see how he’s coming along.”"
Curry had a similar injury in the playoffs two years ago, when he missed just two weeks. However, Curry was rushed back. In the midst of a playoff run, the Warriors didn’t have the luxury to sit their best player. This was back when Kevin Durant was still on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
If Curry doesn’t return in two weeks, there’s probably a good chance that the Warriors never make the NBA Finals in 2016, which they ultimately lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Nevertheless, this time around is a bit different.

Curry will have the necessary time he needs to rest up and fully recover. There’s no rush for Curry to return right now, and the Warriors could probably get through the first round of the playoffs without him if need be.
