2017-18 NBA award predictions: Celtics clean up; James Harden gets MVP
By Ben Stern
Rookie of the Year
Winner: Ben Simmons, Philadelphia 76ers
While there have been many great rookies this season, this year’s ROY debate is a two
man race. While Donovan Mitchell has carried the Jazz to the playoffs, and proven that he will
be a superstar in this league, what Ben Simmons is doing is historic.
Here are a list of players who averaged at least 15 point, 8 rebounds and 8 assists their rookie season: Oscar Robertson
and Ben Simmons. If we go down to 7 and 7, we include Magic Johnson in the list. Ben
Simmons is a 6-foot-10 point guard, who dazzles with his fancy passes and is a beast in the paint.
This is his award to lose, and is a jump shot away from possibly being the best player in the
league one days
Runner Up: Donovan Mitchell
