Four things we can learn from the Philadelphia 76ers now that The Process is complete
Sam Hinkie took over as the Philadelphia 76ers GM during the spring of 2013. He promised to rebuild the team by acquiring young talent and asked fans to “Trust The Process”. Five years later, the entire landscape of the league has changed and we are forced to sift through the dust that is now settling.
The Philadelphia 76ers are closing in on a 50 win season and a playoff birth on the backs of two of the most promising young players in the league. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons have restored hope to fans in the city of brotherly love.
Problem is, the man responsible for them being on the roster is no longer involved in the process of rebuilding the Sixers. That man is Sam Hinkie.
Sam Hinkie is a currently an unemployed, 40-year-old with an MBA from Stanford. Brought into the Houston Rockets front office by GM Darly Morey as an analytics wiz, Hinkie quickly showed he had a good feel for the league. After spending time moving up the Rockets organizational ladder, he took over as the Philadelphia 76ers GM in spring 2013 after a short time with the team.
