Making moves

As soon as Sam Hinkie took the job, he quickly started to turn over the Philadelphia 76ers roster, beginning on draft night. He moved star point guard Jrue Holiday to the Pelicans for the just drafted Nerlens Noel and a future pick. Hinkie then drafted Michael Carter-Williams (who would go on to win Rookie of the Year) to replace Holiday.

He followed those moves by trading away veterans like Thad Young, Evan Turner, and Spencer Hawes.

He also made his first and only coaching hire by tapping Spurs assistant Brett Brown. With some flexibility and extra draft picks, Hinkie got off to the start he was looking for.
