Iman Shumpert (Rap name: 2wo 1ne, Iman)
Highlight Track: “Necessity”
It doesn’t hurt that Shump is married to G.O.O.D. music artist Teyana Taylor, but don’t overlook his talent on the mic, Shump has bars. I was first introduced to Iman’s music back in 2013 when he dropped his mixtape Th3 #Post90’s, under the name 2wo 1ne. Instantly the track “Necessity” jumped out to me because of it’s bouncy beat and catchy hook. Since then, Shump has dropped two more mixtapes and countless videos.
His video for “Promise” featuring his wife Taylor is a black & white chronicle of their relationship and a very good track to match. Shumpert’s music productivity has slowed down in recent years, but just take a look at his freestyle on Funkmaster Flex from a few months back to see him scorch the mic. He drops bars like,
“I dropped post 90’s and when I did they ignored it/so I went back to the dark, but when I glowed they support it right?”
Look for a new album out from Shump here this offseason as well and let’s see if his music career can propel him into a side career as an artist.
