Injury History

Games missed: 151 out of a possible 558 regular season games

Five playoff games missed and counting

Main concerns:

  • Quadriceps injuries: 93 games missed (23 games in his 2nd year; 70 games in year 7*)
  • Right hand: 31 (a break and a torn ligament in his shooting hand over two seasons)
  • Other: (5 or less each): Ankle, calf, concussion, shoulder, illness, eye, dental

*He appeared in nine games in ’17-2018, although three of the 73 he missed were attributed to a partially torn shoulder.

I know I know. I just made some of you a little uncomfortable. You can’t use a dating metaphor and then evaluate an injury history. I’m not advocating anyone ever ever look at something so trivial in a partner.

But I think it helps to illustrate that it may not be completely safe to think “things went so horribly wrong for the Spurs (a model franchise) and Leonard, (a high character player) but things will go very very well for my team.” I want you to leave this piece feeling confident in what you’d like your team to offer if they were to trade for Leonard.

Just bear with me and if you’re still appalled when we’re done, you can complain to me on Twitter. Remember, the opinions here do not represent those of SirCharlesinCharge.com.
