NBA Rumors: The Philadelphia 76ers are growing confident that they’ll be able to lure LeBron James in free agency this summer

The Philadelphia 76ers are the talk of the NBA right now, especially after beating the Miami Heat with little resistance.

However, they can make an even bigger splash this summer.

The Sixers will have plenty of cap space this offseason, and have arguably the NBA’s best young core in Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. With the likes of LeBron James and Paul George about to hit free agency, it will be interesting to see how much of a role the Sixers play in free agency.

If they wanted, the Sixers could continue to take small steps in the process and will still be a really good team next season. However, they could make a huge jump this summer by signing one of these two players.

But as the Sixers continue to create havoc in the Eastern Conference, the Sixers are growing more and more confident in their ability to lure LeBron James this summer.

"[via New York Times]I now fully understand why whispers about the Philadelphia 76ers and their growing behind-the-scenes confidence that they can woo LeBron to Philly this summer are getting louder."

And why shouldn’t they be confident? This is a team that has only lost six games since the NBA’s All-Star break, and is the current favorites to win the East. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen, however you can’t argue with that fact that the Sixers are coming. Fast.

Whether it’s this season or two years from now, the Sixers are going to be big players in the Eastern Conference for what feels like the next decade – barring injury.

LeBron signing with the Sixers is the perfect aging superstar move. He can preserve his legs by jumping on to one of the NBA’s youngest contenders. Simmons and Embiid gives LeBron the superstar help he hasn’t had since he was in Miami – no offense, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.

LeBron on the Sixers would be a great story and equally as scary. And it just might happen.
