Cleveland Cavaliers: It’s time to for the LeBron James era to end – again

No matter what happens during the remainder of the NBA Playoffs, it’s time for the LeBron James era to end for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Let me preface this by saying that the Cleveland Cavaliers will likely beat the Indiana Pacers in Game 7. Most home teams win those games, especially in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

With that said, it’s becoming more and more obvious that both the Cavs and LeBron James need a break from each other.

Forget adding better talent around LeBron; there’s fatigue on both sides. This is perhaps a reunion that happened too quickly. Just four years after he left Cleveland, LeBron thought it would be great to go back. And after winning a championship for Cleveland in 2016, it’s hard to argue that LeBron didn’t make the right decision.

He did.

Problem is, as soon as the honeymoon feelings wore off – and it did so quickly, probably as soon as the team traded Kyrie Irving for an injured all-star – it has appeared as  more of a task than a decision for LeBron to play in Cleveland.

You can see it on his face during games. You can hear it in his comments after them. Heck, you can read them in his subtweets. And depending on who you consider credible, there are many ‘insiders” that are saying the two sides can’t wait to move on from each other.

The Cavs and LeBron James both have some figuring out to do sooner rather than later, even if their seasons is still underway.

Winning Game 7 might feel good for a day or two, but all it does is delay the inevitable. If the Cleveland Cavaliers don’t lose to the Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors or the Philadelphia 76ers or Boston Celtics in the East playoffs, they will almost certainly lose in the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors.
