NBA Rumors: Stephen Curry will miss Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals vs. the New Orleans Pelicans, but is very likely for Game 2

The Golden State Warriors had little trouble without Stephen Curry against the San Antonio Spurs in their first round matchup, but that if they’re going to be equally successful against the red-hot New Orleans Pelicans they will likely need their fearless leader.

But he won’t be available for Game 1.

The good news is that he is “very likely” for Game 2.

The Pelicans are fresh of absolutely destroying the Portland Trail Blazers in their first round series. In fact, they’re the only series that was a clean sweep in the first round. Considering they were the lower seed, that’s even more impressive.

It’s going to be interesting to see if the Pelicans can have the same kind of success as they have thus far in the playoffs. This is a team that likes to play up and down, with Nikola Mirotic and Jrue Holiday playing some excellent basketball – their best of the season.

And we haven’t even mentioned Anthony Davis, who has been everything he normally is and then some after the team lost DeMarcus Cousins for the season to injury.

The Warriors are a bad matchup though, they tend to have that effect on any team they face. These two teams met in the first round a few years ago, with Golden State sweeping the Pelicans en route to their first championship.

But both of these teams are much different. Heck, Kevin Durant wasn’t even on the Dubs yet.

All eyes will be on this series, nevertheless. Will the Warriors begin to show some fatigue? Will they begin to show some weaknesses in their repitoire?

The Pelicans will push them. Question is, how much will they push the defending champs?
