NBA Rumors: Celtics’ Jaylen Brown to miss start of series vs. Sixers
NBA Rumors: Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown (hamstring) will miss the start of their second-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers
The Boston Celtics have had to overcome their fair share of injuries this season, and it will continue as the team prepares for Game 1 against the Philadelphia 76ers Monday night.
Jaylen Brown, who injured his hamstring in Game 7 against the Milwaukee Bucks, will miss Game 1 against the Sixers. Tests on his hamstring came back negative, but because of the quick turnaround it’s not expected for him to be available to start the series.
"[via ESPN]Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown is doubtful for Game 1 of Boston’s Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night because of a strained right hamstring."
Through the first round of the playoffs, Brown is averaging 18 points and five rebounds per game on 47 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from 3-point range. He’s been the team’s second-leading scorer in the playoffs, and there’s no question that his absence will have an impact.

The likes of Terry Rozier and Marcus Smart will need to carry more of the burden in Game 1 against a young Sixers team that has as much talent as Boston, perhaps more.
But the loss of Brown is not only going to hurt on the offensive end, but on the other end too. Brown is an athletic, long defender that could be utilized to match up against a player like Ben Simmons, who had his way against the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs.
The hope is that Brown could return for Game 2 or 3, and Celtics coach Brad Steven didn’t sound all that concerned. However, especially with hamstring injuries, it’s difficult to give a solid return date.
Through most of the season, the Celtics have overcome numerous of injuries – the loss of Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward and Daniel Theis. Marcus Smart missed a large portion of the season, but is now back.
Now, Boston, unfortunately, can add Jaylen Brown to that list.
