NBA Rumors: Kawhi Leonard has reportedly told a teammate that he really wants to remain with the San Antonio Spurs, but how accurate is that?

Depending on who you ask, and who you’re willing to believe, Kawhi Leonard may or may not want out of the San Antonio Spurs organization.

And if you ask Danny Green, specifically, he’ll say that he believes Kawhi wants to remain a member of the Spurs moving forward. Not because it’s something that he feels, but because that’s what Kawhi has reportedly told him.

That’s exactly what Green, who appeared on ESPN’s Get Up Friday morning, told the set.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

"[via ESPN, H/T Basketball Talk]I talk to him here and there, check up on him, see how he’s doing.I think he wants to be in San Antonio. He’s let me know that. He’s let me know verbally he wanted to be there. So, we’ll see what happens."

This is not shocking in the least. Kawhi Leonard is still under contract with the Spurs, and it would be even bigger news if he were saying otherwise. This could be a situation where he’s likely just saying the right things, the things that need to be said until a trade actually happens or he begins getting shopped.

Or maybe, Kawhi really does want to stay with the Spurs. And that may in fact be the case. As far as we know from Kawhi in the past, everything that has been leaking over the last few months about his displeasure with the team seems so out of character for him.

Many believe that this is more of his team trying to make a power move than him. And that would actually make much more sense than Kawhi wanting to play for a big market. Either way, this summer is going to be interesting no matter what goes on between the Spurs and Kawhi Leonard.
