According to a recent report, there’s a very real chance that the Sacramento Kings take Michael Porter Jr. with the second pick in the 2018 NBA Draft

The Sacramento Kings are the real wildcard when it comes to the 2018 NBA Draft. Not because they are expected to make a certain move or selection, but because, frankly, we have no idea what they’re going to do with the No. 2 overall pick.

For almost any other team, this decision would be an easy one. Luka Doncic, assuming DeAndre Ayton is the No. 1 overall pick, should be the second pick in the draft.

He’s unanimously the top or second-best prospect in this draft. But that’s not how the Kings operate. They play by their own rules and are doing their own due diligence, rather than just selecting the prospect they’re supposed to.

And credit the Kings. They should be making the rounds and making sure they’re taking the right man. One interesting name, however, that is on the table for the Kings is Michael Porter Jr., a prospect who is projected to go anywhere from 5-16.

"[via USA Today]There’s a very real chance the Kings would take Michael Porter Jr. at No. 2, but it’s unclear how the canceling of the Friday workout in Chicago might impact the process. They want more intel on medical and another look. Teams are being told that the workout will be rescheduled."

The Kings play by their own rules, and it wouldn’t exactly be the most surprising thing to see them take Michael Porter Jr. second overall. Even though it would, at least in part, be somewhat of a reach, if that’s the player they feel is the best man on the board when they go on the clock, by all means they should make that selection.

Porter Jr. missed the majority of his freshman season at Missouri with an injury, and there simply isn’t much non-high school tape on him. His injury concerns is what makes him a risky pick.
