Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs have a Texas-sized question that needs to be answered over the course of the next two months: Are they going to trade Kawhi Leonard or not? Gregg Popovich and Kawhi reportedly met two days before the NBA Draft, but nothing was settled.

Then, on draft night, R.C. Buford, San Antonio’s general manager, said that the franchise was going to do everything physically possible to keep Kawhi Leonard on the roster moving forward. Which is a fancy way of saying that they aren’t going to trade him anytime soon, even if he doesn’t move off his trade demand.

Something has to give in this game of chicken. And the Spurs aren’t a dump or poorly run franchise. Despite what they may say in the media, they aren’t going to let Kawhi screw them over and let him walk for nothing in free agency next summer.
