Svi Mykhailiuk

Once again, the Lakers focussed on shooting with their second-round pick. In fact, Svi Mykhailiuk may already be the best shooter on the Lakers roster.

In his senior year at Kansas, he ranked 20th in the nation for 3-point percentage (44.4 percent) and 10th for total makes from deep (115). As a 6-foot-8 guard, he is able to shoot over the top of smaller defenders with ease.

The Los Angeles Lakers could use him as a Kyle Korver-lite, running him off of screens or using him as a decoy in the corners. From day one in the league, defenders won’t be able to leave his side for a second.

His mere presence should open up lanes for James to operate in, and in that sense, his reputation alone could be a dangerous weapon for the Lakers. If he can hit open shots when James rifles the ball his way? Even better.

At times last season Korver was the second most effective player on the Cavaliers, purely because of his shooting off the catch. Mykhailiuk isn’t at the same level yet, but he should certainly pair well with LeBron on the offensive end of the floor.
