NBA Rumors: Carmelo Anthony admits that he and the Oklahoma City Thunder simply weren’t a good fit
Simply watching the Oklahoma City Thunder last season, it was pretty clear that Carmelo Anthony wasn’t a good fit. However, it’s something that was never really addressed, which shouldn’t have been anyways.
Though, now that both have officially moved past each other, you’re probably going to see more and more of those types of admissions.
And Carmelo Anthony has done just that. In an interview with ESPN’s Jemele Hill, Anthony admitted that it just didn’t work with the Thunder.

"[via SI]“At the end of the day, it wasn’t a good fit,” Anthony said. “Everything was just so rushed, going to the team for media day and the day before training camp. Them guys already had something in place, and then I come along in the 25th hour like, oh s–t, Melo just come on and join us.”"
The Thunder were sadly eliminated in the first round of the NBA Playoffs at the hands of the Utah Jazz, and never really looked on the same page as an overall team. It was evident that change was needed at some point this summer, and that Melo would be at the forefront of said changes.
With this experience officially in the past for Melo, it’s going to be interesting to see what changes during his time with the Houston Rockets, who he is going to sign with after he clears waivers.
It’s somewhat of a similar complex as the Thunder, as Houston has two stars too, but extremely much more established.
OKC kind of traded for Paul George and Carmelo Anthony last summer and hoped it would work. The Rockets have been building this core for a while, and have reaped the success of finishing one game away from the NBA Finals just a season ago.
The argument could actually be made that had it not been for a Chris Paul injury, the Rockets would’ve knocked off the Golden State Warriors.
While adding Melo is risky, it could also be quite beneficial.
Melo is a talented player, even in the backend of his illustrious NBA career. If he accepts his role and plays in it, it could take this Rockets team to another level.
