2020 NBA Champions: Golden State Warriors

Finals MVP: Kevin Durant

Surprised? Yes, DeMarcus Cousins will likely be gone if his come back plan goes accordingly. Both Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant could be unrestricted free agents assuming the latter turns down his player offer (he will).

Golden State will break the bank to keep them both, though. Klay will sign a five-year extension before he hits the market. Durant will opt to continue his 1+1 player option contracts, similar to LeBron James’ contract situation in Cleveland.

KD didn’t leave Oklahoma City behind and join an already dominant core to win a few titles and call it a day. Four titles in a row would put Golden State behind only the Bill Russell led Boston Celtics eight straight titles and would be the most consecutive titles in the modern era of basketball.

That may be enough to satisfy Durant, but if he wants to be the best player on the best team ever, he won’t jump ship on this dynasty, not yet anyway.
