Here are some of the most interesting results from the 2018-19 NBA Rookie survey.
The rookies voted that they believe Deandre Ayton or Collin Sexton will win the 2018-19 NBA Rookie of the Year award. The Ayton part is really not that surprising. He was the No.1 overall pick and was viewed as one of the most NBA-ready players of all the prospects in the draft.
They also believe that Trae Young, who was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks, is the best shooter to come out of the draft; they also voted Young as the best playmaker too.
Young is a great shooter, so that shouldn’t come as a surprise. Although, his playmaking is one of the underrated areas of his game. He did average nearly nine assists per game during his freshman season at Oklahoma.
Interestingly, LeBron James is the the rookies’ best player in the NBA. And that’s interesting considering this is a different generation, but the love – and respect – for LeBron is still present.
Those were just a few of the most interesting tidbits, but there is a ton more to unwrap and possibly come back to when the season ends to see what hit and what missed completely. More than anything, it’s just a fun exercise to see what the rookie class thinks about themselves.
