Exploring whether the Eastern Conference is really that much worse than the Western Conference heading into the 2018-19 NBA season

The 2018-19 NBA season is less than two months away, and training camps are mere weeks away from opening. And after a crazy offseason, which has slowed down quite a bit over the last month or so, there are a ton of storylines to look forward to.

One of the bigger ones is the wide open race to win the Eastern Conference. Which, at least in my opinion, is a bit overstated.

I get that LeBron James won the conference for eight straight seasons, and that he’s now on the West coast. However, I feel like that’s one of the most inaccurate statements that we’ve continued to hear during the offseason.

To better understand where I’m coming from, let’s breakdown both conferences and make a few comparisons between the two. First off, I think it’s important to state the obvious. And the obvious is that the Golden State Warriors shouldn’t be included in this breakdown. They are clearly the exception, and are going to run away with the Western Conference crown, and likely the 2019 NBA Championship too.

We begin.
