Revolutionizing the NBA
Looking at the NBA and how its played now, it’s hard not to give at least some credit to its evolution to Steve Nash, who helped start this perimeter-oriented ball back during his prime years with the Phoenix Suns.
The Suns didn’t have a true low post presence, like many teams during the early 2000’s, but they did have dynamic point guard who helped change how offenses function and run – a hat tip to Mike D’Antoni who is now doing much of the same things with the Houston Rockets, with James Harden and Chris Paul.
In the early 2000’s, Nash and the Suns were ahead of their time. And nearly broke through to face the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals during the 2005-06 season, but ended up losing to the Dallas Mavericks. Had Amar’e Stoudemire not been lost for the season, the Suns might just have made the NBA Finals that season.
