NBA Trade Rumors: The Phoenix Suns, who are reportedly in the market for a starting point guard, could be targeting Patrick Beverley
The Phoenix Suns are reportedly interested in upgrading their point guard position. At the moment, their current starting point guard would be Tyler Ulis or Brandon Knight. That’s not exactly great, especially for a team that is interested in competing for a playoff spot this season.
Hold the laughter, but if their young players take a big enough step this season they could make things interesting, even in a difficult West.
There’s no question that the Suns have talent on their roster. They just haven’t been able to put it all together, but the hope is that changes – soon. Adding a veteran point guard could go a long way in potentially accomplishing that.

And that’s where Patrick Beverley comes in, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
"I’m told they’re targeting Clippers guard Patrick Beverley. He’s been at the top of their list."
Shams goes on to say that the biggest issue with getting a deal done is the LA Clippers‘ asking price for Beverley. Even though the Clippers are somewhat pivoting to a rebuild, they know the value that a quality point guard has in the NBA – and that’s more than just a couple of second-round picks.
If the Suns are serious about securing a starting point guard, including Beverley, before the start of the season, they’re going to have to give up something. And that starts with a first-round pick. It’s not known who else the Suns could be targeting as another option, but almost every potential target is going to cost them.
Beverley would be a solid addition for the Suns. He’s one of the most underrated point guards in the NBA, and when he’s on top of his game is an absolute pest on both ends of the floor.
