NBA Rumors: LA Clippers are the frontrunners to sign Kawhi Leonard?
NBA Rumors: According to recent reports, the Los Angeles Clippers are emerging as the frontrunners to sign Kawhi Leonard next summer
Even though Kawhi Leonard is no longer on the San Antonio Spurs, after being traded to the Toronto Raptors, the rumors surrounding his potential free agency next summer will not cease.
He could come out and say that he’s happy with the Raptors, but until he verbalizes his intent on re-signing long-term with the team, the rumor mill will continue to churn. And the latest of the rumblings surrounding Kawhi are still pretty on par to what we’ve been hearing over the last few months, despite his move to Canada.
Destination is still Los Angeles, but perhaps the not team in LA that you thought. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers are beginning to emerge as the frontrunners for Kawhi Leonard, assuming hit hits the open market next summer.

"[via ESPN]The Clippers have two max contract slots available in July, and are emerging as a front-runner for Toronto’s All-NBA forward Kawhi Leonard when he becomes a free agent in July, league sources said."
This isn’t the first and will almost certainly won’t be the last time that we hear this type of report. Kawhi is arguably the biggest – and best – free agent that is set to hit the open market next summer.
But there’s no question that the Clippers will be one of the top contenders in landing the big free agent. They have a ton of cap space, and a coach (Doc Rivers) and a team consultant (Jerry West) that many players around the league respect.
At the same time, it’s hard to predict what will happen eight months from now, considering that we have an entire season to play out. What if Kawhi helps leads the Raptors to the NBA Finals? What if he hits it off and feels like he’s building something great in Toronto?
There’s too many variables at play to try and predict where Kawhi Leonard will end up next summer. Buckle in, this is going to be one crazy NBA season.
