Miami Heat: One last dance for Dwyane Wade in 2018-19
Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade will get his farewell tour in 2018-19, something that he certainly deserves during his final season
Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade has announced that the 2018-19 campaign will be his final season in the NBA.
The farewell tour that will take place this coming year is well deserved, to say the least. After 16 seasons in the league, Wade will go down as a first-ballot Hall of Famer with a myriad of accolades.
The 12-time all-star has won three NBA titles for the Miami Heat, winning Finals MVP in the franchise’s first championship in 2006. The shooting guard has also made an All-NBA team eight separate times in his career, making the first team in 2009 and 2010. He was also named to the second and third teams between 2005-07 and 2011-13. Wade has averaged an impressive 22.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game throughout his storied career.

Few truly remember just how dominant this superstar was during his prime. His undeniable success and will to win allowed him to sacrifice his own stats and welcome LeBron James to Miami in 2010 in pursuit of two more rings.
This exemplified Wade’s character and further contributed to his legacy as a professional and a champion. He is already being called the third greatest shooting guard in NBA history, behind Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Wade was not only an offensive force capable of taking over a ball game – as he often did having lead the entire league in scoring during the 2008-09 season with 30.2 points per game – but he was also one of the best perimeter defenders in the league for a long time.
Wade needs just 47 blocks to pass Michael Jordan as the all-time blocks leader among guards. His remarkable athleticism and speed earned him the nickname “Flash” from former teammate Shaquille O’ Neal.
On a nightly basis, Dwayne Wade was the best player on the court, captivating an enamored Miami crowd with innate quickness, slick crossovers, and jaw-dropping dunks.
It has been an honor to watch Dwyane Wade over the years, as he became a major influence on the city of Miami and cemented his legacy as one of the greatest basketball players we have ever seen.
This will be Wade’s final season in the NBA, and he deserves the farewell tour, even if he doesn’t entirely want it.
