NBA Trade Rumors: Wolves should target Josh Richardson in Jimmy Butler deal
NBA Trade Rumors: If the Minnesota Timberwolves are looking for a player that can help them win now, in any Jimmy Butler deal, they should look no further than the Miami Heat
If you believe the rumors that the Miami Heat are pushing hard for Jimmy Butler, the Minnesota Timberwolves couldn’t have asked for a better trade partner, considering the circumstances.
Not only are the Heat the just amount of desperate to try and get a deal done, but they also have one of the best players that could help the Wolves win now if that’s something they’d prefer than just compiling draft picks.
And if there’s one player that the Wolves should be targeting on Miami’s roster, it should be Josh Richardson.

Richardson is entering the fourth year of his young career and is fresh off his best season to date. Last season with the Heat, Richardson averaged 13 points, three assists and nearly one block per game on 45 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range.
He’s also one of the most underrated defenders in the NBA, and might actually be in the conversation for the best wing defender in the league. He’s still only 25 years old, and has a high ceiling. Interestingly, he has drawn comparisons to a young Jimmy Butler.
Even though he may not ever reach that level, he is an extremely valuable asset on a great contract. He’s locked up for the next three seasons, averaging roughly $10 million per year. That’s a discount deal for the type of player that Richardson is slowly developing into.
If the Wolves are looking for a player that can help them win now, and play seamlessly next to Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns, they should look not further than Josh Richardson. He has potential to be a really good player, and is already talented enough to produce from day one.
