NBA Trade Rumors: The Minnesota Timberwolves demanded Ben Simmons in any trade packages for Jimmy Butler from the Philadelphia 76ers
For a team like the Philadelphia 76ers, it’s only smart for them to make a call whenever a player like Jimmy Butler hits the trade block. After all, this is a team that could be one big player away from being a favorite in the Eastern Conference.
However, it’s safe to say that those conversations ended quickly. That’s because when the Sixers inquired about the possibility of trading for Butler, the Wolves requested for Ben Simmons to be in any package for the all-star shooting guard – according to The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor.
It’s not confirmed that the Sixers immediately bursted out in laughter shortly before hanging up, but they probably should’ve done just that.

"[via The Ringer, H/T Sixers Wire]“One of the things that I’ve heard from a handful of sources is that like, with the Sixers for example, with the initial offer that they made, the counteroffer was like ‘we need Ben Simmons in a deal.’” O’Connor stated.“It’s counter offers like that that make you wonder, is this actually for real?”"
And the latter portion of this comment couldn’t be more right. The more you read and learn about what’s happening behind closed doors between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the teams that are inquiring about Butler, the more you can’t help but wonder if Tom Thibodeau is really doing the best he can to move Jimmy.
And based on everything we know about Thibs, this actually would fall in. When Jimmy Butler originally expressed his desire for a trade away from Minnesota, there were reports that suggested Thibs would simply rather ride this season out and force him to walk away from the big money the team could offer him in July.
All in all, the saga continues as Jimmy Butler waits at home for Minnesota to find him a new home. Question is, how long will this take? At this point, I’m not sure if there’s any end in sight.
