Is Jimmy Butler worth the trouble for the Miami Heat, with possibility of being played by the Minnesota Timberwolves?
From everything that we’ve heard thus far, the Miami Heat have been the most aggressive team in trying to land Jimmy Butler from the Minnesota Timberwolves. But, at the same time, it sounds and feels like there’s a ton of dysfunction going on in that Minnesota front office.
And, if they don’t protect themselves, they could come away looking really bad after all this. Especially if they end up losing out, after being the so-called “favorites” all this time.
But at what point should the Heat just walk away from discussions and call it a day?

From everything that we’ve heard, it seems like the Heat are playing a game of chicken with the Wolves. Or the Wolves are playing a game of chicken with the Jimmy Butler. Either way, this is a big risk for Pat Riley and the Heat.
Miami is reportedly refusing to offer Josh Richardson in any deal for Jimmy Butler, at the moment. However, that could be the big bargaining chip for Riley in this potential endgame. Although, what if it isn’t enough? What if Riley thinks he knows how to end this and then it doesn’t?
How bad is that going to look? Especially with how his reputation has begun to change over the last few years (post-LeBron).
The big question that the Miami Heat need to ask themselves is if they’re too far into discussions to walk out of them. Right now, I feel like they kind of are. If they were to walk away, they could take a big PR hit not only from their fans, but also from the rest of the league.
Jimmy Butler is a great player, no question, but at what point does this become too risky for the Heat? If they don’t feel like they’re in too deep already, they need to be extremely careful about their next step.
