Philadelphia 76ers’ forward Wilson Chandler is expected to miss the bulk of pre-season with a hamstring injury
The expectations for the Philadelphia 76ers are extremely high this season, but that comes with the territory and isn’t the least surprising.
However, one of many things that can often shift or impact expectations is injuries. They’re never good and can throw an entire season off if not taken care of in appropriate fashion. That’s something the Sixers will already have to go through in pre-season.
Philadelphia announced that Wilson Chandler is expected to miss 2-3 weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury. This timeline is quite standard with the injury, but often times hamstring injuries are one of the hardest to predict. They vary, depending on the player and how he responds to the treatment.
If anything, the good news is that Chandler isn’t penciled in as a starter, so if the Sixers have to start the season without him it won’t be the worst thing in the world. Chandler will come off the bench for this team and while he’ll be a valuable asset as a veteran, he will be able to return when he’s healthy and slide right into his role.
Chandler knows the ins and outs of the league, and he knows how to conduct himself. That’s the great thing about having him as a veteran. Even though the Sixers are quite young, they play like a seasoned veteran-led team.
Even in the playoffs, this team was doing things that you’d only see from teams that had been through the battles of the playoffs. The young core on this team is unique and special. Perhaps that’s why the expectations for this team are so lofty, even for such a young core of stars.
The Sixers are deep, talented and have experience. They’re going to be factors in the Eastern Conference this season.
