NBA Pre-Season Takeaways: Luka Doncic hype; Lakers are not great

The Lakers will be a major experiment this season

The Los Angeles Lakers added the games best player this offseason, LeBron James, to their roster and have spent training camp working on potential lineups. As we saw in their first pre-season game against the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers will experiment with many different looks as well as several different guys at center.

L.A. seems to like having LeBron James and McGee as their main frontcourt option but the Lakers also used Kyle Kuzma, Michael Beasley and Ivica Zubac at Center Sunday night.

The Lakers seem to like the idea of playing positionless basketball but if the first pre-season game was any indication they will need to be sharp on offense as their defense was disastrous.

The Lakers also struggled mightily when Rajon Rondo and LeBron James were not in the game. Once Lonzo Ball returns that should help the young Lakers in that regard.
