NBA: 4 bold predictions for the 2018-19 season
By Quinn Allen
Collin Sexton wins Rookie of the year
I really don’t believe this is a bold statement, because Collin Sexton is really that good. He brings a Russell Westbrook-type style of play and could be the most confident rookie we’ll see in the NBA this year.
Sexton absolutely lit up the NBA Summer League, averaging 19.6 points per game while shooting 48 percent from the field. He’s not an elite shooter at this point, instead, more of a player who likes to get to the rim. His quickness and pure athleticism draw comparisons to Westbrook along with his bulldog mentality. He plays gritty, in your face defense which is rare to see from a rookie. He’s an absolute grinder on the hardwood and never gives up on a play.
With LeBron out of Cleveland, the Cavs are in dire need of a franchise player. Between his pure talent and will to compete, Sexton could very easily get the Franchise tag in Cleveland. He will have the opportunity to shine this year, and I have no doubts he will run with it.
Don’t be surprised if Collin Sexton is the rookie of the year at the end of the 2018-19 season.
