Looking at five things that I think are going to happen as the 2018-19 NBA season tips off

The NBA 2018-19 is finally here! (Couple, hours away). There is a lot to look forward to in this new season from seeing LeBron James in Los Angeles, DeMarcus Cousins on the Golden State Warriors and the young talents that were welcomed in the league through the draft.

Going into every NBA season there are a lot of questions, speculations and doubts raised by media, fans, coaches and players alike.

Here are 5 things I think are going to happen next season.

Luka Doncic will win Rookie of the Year

The 2018 NBA Draft class is filled with loads of talents with the likes of Deandre Ayton, Mavin Bagley and Trae young to name a few. Amongst this crop of talented players we have a 6-foot-8, 210-pound small forward who possesses the ball handling and passing abilities of a guard, whose basketball knowledge and experience are seemingly way ahead of his age in Luka Doncic.

Offensively, Doncic is an excellent passer off the pick and roll who is always looking to set up teammates and he also possesses the ability to be a big time scorer. Doncic in the Euro League over 33 games averaged 16.0 points per game in 25.9 minutes, with increased minutes on the Dallas Mavericks team you can expect to see Doncic drop 20+ point’s night in and out.

Defensively, Doncic possesses all the physical tools to be a top defender in the league and is a matchup problem for other teams as he can quite easily guard all spots on the floor. Doncic is highly rated across the league by GM’s as he was voted clear favourite to win the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award.
