Seven random basketball thoughts as the 2018-19 NBA season tips off

There are a number of interesting storylines heading into the 2018-19 NBA season, I don’t think anyone would argue with that statement. However, with that said, there are certainly a handful of ones that standout more than the rest.

For one, what is going to happen with Jimmy Butler. For the most part, over the last few weeks, it’s pretty much controlled the newswire in the NBA. And until he gets moved, or re-signs with the Minnesota Timberwolves, he’s going to continue to be a point of conversation.

But apart from the Jimmy B saga, there is LeBron James out West and possibly the Golden State Warriors beginning its final season together (with this core, if you believe the whispers surrounding Kevin Durant).

Then there’s the (now healthy) Boston Celtics in a LeBron-less Eastern Conference, and the Philadelphia 76ers, who hope they can play spoilers while everyone pre-maturely crowns Boston.

As the next season in the NBA prepare for tip-off, here are seven random thoughts heading into this year.
