NBA: Predicting the 2018-19 regular season award winners
By Colin Cann
Winner: Masai Ujiri, Toronto Raptors
Masai made a bold move this offseason that arguably alienated a majority of the Raptors fan base. In doing so he shipped away the face of the franchise and leader in many statistical categories, DeMar DeRozan, for former finals MVP and Spurs superstar Kawhi Leonard, off of a lingering quad injury that limited him to just nine games last season.
Did he trade away the only star that has ever committed to the franchise for a one-year rental, or did he trade away a perpetual playoff underachiever and poor defender for a top five player and perennial DPOY candidate who turns a good regular season team into a legitimate contender?
If it is closer to the latter, Ujiri should walk away with the trophy.
