Seattle

What a shocker. A city that once supported the beloved Supersonics has been without basketball since Kevin Durant‘s rookie year, when the team moved to Oklahoma City.

The move left many skeptical from the get-go, as the city’s history had basketball in it’s roots.

Oklahoma City, while also proving capable of providing a stable home for a franchise, got one far better than an expansion team should. Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden were together representing Oklahoma City in the NBA Finals soon after the team’s inception.

The NBA has long contemplated bringing a team back there, as recently as last year, when a group of buyers attempted to steal the Kings from Sacramento. Kevin Durant rocked a Shawn Kemp jersey during a preseason game in Seattle a few weeks back, sparking some memories and also packing an arena.

It’s more of a question of when not if with this city, as basketball will find its way back to Seattle, whether it’s by expansion or relocation.
