NBA: 7 things we learned from the opening week of the regular season

Houston is currently sitting at 1-2 in their division. The Rockets need to figure out how they are going to stop anybody defensively. The opening night loss at home against the Pelicans was about as pathetic an opening night performance as I have seen in a long time in the NBA.

The Rockets lost wing defense with Trevor Ariza going to Phoenix and post defense with the loss of Luc Mbah a Moute. Right now it’s glaring how much they miss these two players. With Mike D’Antoni and the attention he pays to defense it could be a long season. Chris Paul needs to stay healthy as well for Houston. How does Carmelo Anthony blend in?

So far the results have not been great. Many basketball pundits believe that the Rockets are going to take a step back this season. So far, it appears that the pundits may be right.
