NBA Trade Rumors: The Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves have reportedly reopened trade talks centered around Jimmy Butler

One day after it was reported that the Houston Rockets were prepared to offer four first-round draft picks as part of a bigger package (along with Marquese Chriss and Brandon Knight) for Jimmy Butler, it is now being reported that the Miami Heat has reopened talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Whether those two reports have anything to do one another remains to be seen, however if both of these reports are accurate, it seems that we could be closer to a resolution on the Jimmy Butler saga – and, boy, do we need one.

The most latest report was via Stefano Fusaro, and ESPN reporter who is based in Houston. He has been all over the Jimmy Butler saga from the beginning, and was one of the first to report the Heat’s interest in Butler, and Butler’s interest in the Heat.

From the sounds of everything, it still feels we are a ways away from a deal being finalized and completed. That likely means we’re still likely going to have a few more weeks of this saga. Then again, something could legitimize quickly, especially if a team like the Rockets gets more desperate – and from the looks of it, they might be at that point already.

Perhaps holding out on moving Butler as soon as he requested a trade might actually workout for the Wolves.

Time will ultimately tell, but there’s no question that this is becoming a risky game for the Wolves either way. It’s either going to work out really well or really bad (if they hold him beyond the NBA Trade Deadline and he walks for nothing) for Minnesota.

No matter what happens, it seems like we could be getting closer and closer to the end of this long nightmare. And, quite frankly, getting past this narrative might be the best for both parties.
