NBA Rumors: According to reports, Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Lov could miss even more time as he continues to battle foot soreness
The Cleveland Cavaliers have gotten off to an 0-6 start to the season and Kevin Love has missed the last two games with a foot injury. And while it wasn’t expected for him to miss that much time, there’s whispers that he could be held out a big longer.
According to New York Times scribe Marc Stein, Love could be remained out in order to rest his foot. Likely, in an attempt to avoid any further injury.
If the Cavs elect to hold Love out, it could get extremely ugly for this team. And quickly.
The team has no identity and they don’t really have anything to lean. Part of that is because rookie Collin Sexton hasn’t been as good as many projected him to be. But, after all, he’s still a rookie and it wouldn’t be fair to place all the blame on him.
Love was supposed to be the primary player on this team’s offense, and he simply hasn’t been healthy. The good news is that the Cavs own their first-round pick this season, because from the optics of everything so far this season, it’s going to be a high one.
Then there’s the whole potential for trading Love. It’s something that has been whispered over the last few months, ever since LeBron James decided to leave and Cleveland handed him that huge contract extension.
He’s not an asset and is still fairly young. If this Cavs really wanted to tear this down, and there’s evidence to suggest that they should, moving Love will be quite easy. But I feel like that’s a conversation to have later in the season. Despite their struggles and dysfunction thus far, it’s still too early to make any rash decisions.
Sorry, Ty Lue.
