NBA MVP Ladder: Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant setting the league on fire
9. Kemba Walker, Charlotte Hornets
Stats: 32 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds
The Charlotte Hornets may only be 3-4 on the season, but Kemba Walker has been playing out of his mind through the first two weeks of the 2018-19 NBA season. Walker is shooting an efficiently 47 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3-point range on nearly five makes per game.
He’s putting together his best start to a season yet, and it couldn’t come at a bette time considering that he’s in the final year of his contract. He has the Hornets competitive, but not even his heroics can perform miracles.
If Charlotte can improve their record a bit more, perhaps Walker would climb a bit higher on this list. But for the time being, considering that the Hornets likely aren’t a playoff team, Walker’s best-case scenario is really only breaking into the top 5 of NBA MVP voting. Still, great start for Walker.
