NBA Rumors: According to a recent report, the Memphis Grizzlies are close to signing Joakim Noah for the remainder of the season

The Memphis Grizzlies have won six of their last seven games and are looking more and more like their former selves. After being decimated by injuries last season, many questioned whether the Grizzlies still had the ability to be a threat in the Western Conference.

Through the first month of the season, the Grizzlies are tied with two other teams, at 11-5, for the best record in the Western Conference. Marc Gasol and Mike Conley, while they may be past their prime, are still one of the best two-man duos in the NBA.

They’ve carried this team to a hot start, and could be a problem for many other teams in the West that originally believed they had an easy route towards the playoffs. Memphis will have a say, and a hand in one of the final playoff spots in the West. And don’t be surprised if they sneak in.

And in an attempt to help solidify their depth in their front-court, the team is reportedly interested in brining in Joakim Noah.

"[via New York Times]There have been “extensive discussions” between the Grizzlies and Noah’s representatives about a deal that would bring the former All-Star back into the league, according to the people, who were not authorized to discuss the situation publicly."

Noah was waived by the New York Knicks earlier this season and hasn’t played in an NBA game since January of last season. Overall, he only played in seven games last season and 46 games the year before.

Even though Noah is only 33 years old, there has to be some serious doubt about whether or not he still has anything left in the tank. Nevertheless, I suppose adding a player like Noah at this point in the season, and for what they could probably get him for, is a low-risk, high reward type of move.
