What this trade also brings is a measure of what newly appointed head of the Philadelphia 76ers front office Elton Brand vision is for the Sixers future. This trade is a huge swing for the fences for the 76ers franchise.
Brand has risen through the Basketball Executive ranks very quickly, only being two years removed from his playing days to head of the Sixers front office. Brand after retiring in 2016, that same year became a Player Development Consultant for the Sixers leading into becoming the General Manager of the Sixers G-League Basketball Team the Delaware 87ers in 2017.
After one season as the GM of the Sixers G-League Affilate Brand was promoted this summer to General Manager of the Main Philadelphia 76ers Basketball Franchise. Only several months after taking over, the Jimmy Butler trade signals the first major move for the Brand ran Sixers Front Office. Brand with this trade shows he had a pulse for what Philadelphia needed and added a player that could catapult the Sixers in the Eastern Conference this season.
