Tyson Chandler: Keep playing

Current team: Los Angeles Lakers

Tyson Chandler has found new light and new purpose after just recently signing with the Los Angeles Lakers. Chandler had come from a four-year term with the Phoenix Suns that didn’t really amount to anything in terms of success.

The Lakers who have been struggling on the defensive side lately needed a heavy-built center who has experience defending the rim with brute strength and high basketball IQ. Throughout his career, Chandler has made it onto the all-defensive team three times, won DPOY in 2012 with the Knicks, and has a ring under his belt with the 2011 Mavericks. The big man has been all around the league and knows what he needs to do to succeed for the team.

Chandler understands his strengths and unlike other centers on the Lakers like JaVale McGee has a built body that does a great job posting up on both sides of the court. If there was any talk regarding his possible retirement it has completely come to a halt.

There’s a lot of factors one must think about when it comes to whether or not a player’s time in the league is up. It all depends on the team’s system and if he fits along with his overall health and performance. Some players today just don’t have those assets and it can lead the general public to wonder why even bother to continue.

And there are some players who understand their purposes and know what they need to do to be great in their old age. At the end of the day, the only thing that can tell us for certain if this is the end of the line for these NBA greats is time itself.
