In this week’s NBA Power Rankings, we explore whether it’s time for the struggling Boston Celtics to make a trade in an attempt to right the ship

The Boston Celtics have, overall, struggled through the first month of the 2018-19 NBA season. Their offense is a mess (ranked 27th in the NBA) and their defense is the only team’s saving grace. Without having the top ranked defense in the NBA, the Celtics would probably have four or five wins right now.

That’s how bad its been for this team this season. As it currently stands, the Celtics are 11-9 on the season, having lost three of their last five games. They are sixth in the Eastern Conference and have been playing nothing like many expected them to before the season started.

This was a team that was supposed to run through the East en route to making it back to the NBA Finals, to face off against the Golden State Warriors. So far, this team has resembled nothing of that nature.

Instead, this team looks like a team that is a mediocre playoff team. However, when you look at the roster, there’s really no reason why this team should be struggling as much as they have. Which leads me to believe that one small adjustment could make all the difference. Question is, does that one small adjustment to right the ship include a trade?

Should it? Will it? Perhaps. One thing is for sure, Danny Ainge won’t let this continue to go on for much longer. Something has to give.

Let’s get to this week’s NBA Power Rankings.
