NBA: The 7 best early-season buyout candidates
By Kyle Crabbe
Wesley Matthews, Dallas Mavericks
Possible Destinations: Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers, Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons, Philadelphia 76ers
Best Fit: Minnesota Timberwolves
With the Dallas Mavericks going young at the guards with rookie phenom Luka Doncic and Dennis Smith Jr., Wesley Matthews might be the odd man out. Matthews at this stage in his career might not be the best fit with this particular Mavericks team.
While Matthews is still a solid contributor on this Mavericks team that has been having a good season, much better than many predicted, their could be situations elsewhere in the NBA better suited for Matthews this season.
Matthews offers excellent defensive skills, intense defensive effort in addition to being a knock-down outside shooter. Matthews is your quintessential 3-and-D wing in the current modern day NBA. His skill-set is valuable to virtually all teams in the NBA, but specifically teams pushing for the playoffs and at possibly making a NBA Finals run will covet Matthews.
