NBA Trade Rumors: The Indiana Pacers are reportedly interested in trading Darren Collison or Cory Joseph

The Indiana Pacers are 17-10, and are currently a top 4 team in the Eastern Conference. After their great, and somewhat surprising, 2017-18 season, in which they nearly upset the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs, the Pacers have picked up where they left off.

And one player in particular that the team is high on is rookie point guard Aaron Holiday. He may have been a late-first round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, but the Pacers believe that he’s the real deal.

So much so that they’d like to create more minutes for the rookie point guard. In doing so, they’re reportedly willing to move one of their two veteran point guards in the process. That means Darren Collison and/or Cory Joseph could be on the trade block.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

"[via ESPN]League executives believe Indiana might look to move one of its point guards. Darren Collison and Cory Joseph roughly split the position and are both in the final years of their deals. The team is high on rookie Aaron Holiday and could want to clear out room for him"

In his limited sample size, Holiday has shown flashes of potential. Holiday is only averaging 13 minutes per game this season, and six points on 42 percent shooting from the floor. He did have an impressive 19-point outburst earlier this season against the Utah Jazz.

The Pacers have been impressive and could actually add to their bench by moving one of their veteran point guards in an attempt to add bench to either their front-court and on the wing. And there should be a number of teams jumping at the possibility of adding a player like Collison or Joseph.

Neither of these players will change the culture of any franchise by any stretch of the imagination, but they are potential stopgaps that could assist a young point guard. For example, this could be the perfect opportunity for a team like the Phoenix Suns that is desperate for a veteran point guard.

It’ll be interesting to see what the market is for a veteran point guard in the weeks leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline, but Phoenix would have the assets to get a deal done. Question is, will they try to make it happen?

The Suns and Pacers, assuming this report is on point, appear to be ideal trade partners.
