NBA Trade Rumors: The Phoenix Suns need a point guard, but it won’t be Markelle Fultz

Markelle Fultz reportedly wants out of Philadelphia. Or he might not. Depending on who you ask. Nevertheless, there needs to be some resolution between the Philadelphia 76ers and Markelle Fultz.

That just might be a trade. A clean break for both sides might be the best. Problem is, Fultz doesn’t really have a vast trade value and outlook at this point. He’s struggled for much of the season, and hasn’t played in weeks and likely won’t play again for a while.

Perhaps until he’s moved. But if a trade does in fact take place, don’t expect him to be moved to the Phoenix Suns.

The fact that the Suns are not interested in Markelle Fultz should signal a few possible things. First, it could signal that the Sixers’ asking price is too rich for Phoenix. Secondly, it could prove that the Suns believe that Fultz is a lot cause.

Or, perhaps a bit of both and a little in-between.

Either way, the fact that the Suns are desperate to find a point guard and even more so one that can grow along with this team’s young core, Fultz not even being a potential target is quite interesting.

On the surface, he would be a solid fit for the Suns. However, it could be said that perhaps Phoenix is looking for a more veteran, established point guard to get the Suns to take a step forward in their rebuild, rather than to continue to struggle near – or at – the bottom of the Western Conference.

Whatever the case may be, I think it’s pretty clear that you can count out the Suns in the pursuit of Markelle Fultz. And if the Suns aren’t interested, you have to think if there is any team out there willing to take the big swing on Fultz.
