Breaking down five NBA teams that desperately need to make a trade in an attempt to get their season back on track

Roughly a third of the 2018-19 NBA season is officially in the books. While the Golden State Warriors are still very much the class of the NBA, there are a number of surprising revelations that have taken place in the young season.

For one, the entire Western Conference is reeling. There are many teams that are performing better than expected, while many contenders have struggled to start the season. However, one third of the season is a pretty solid sample size where we can begin to draw conclusions from the first 20-plus games.

It’s also enough time where each team knows what they are and what they aren’t – and that means most management groups know if they need to make a trade in order to make a real run to the playoffs.

And there are a number of teams that desperately need to make a move in order to get their season back on track. Here are five that could achieve that sooner rather than later, starting with a contender that has lost its defensive identity.
