NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, it seems as if the Philadelphia 76ers are asking teams for a first-round pick for Markelle Fultz

From everything that has transpire between the Philadelphia 76ers and Markelle Fultz‘s camp through his first two years in the NBA, almost everyone with an outside perspective believes that a clean breakup is what these two need.

However, it’s not that easy. For one, Fultz’s trade value is at an all-time low. Plus, he’s currently injured and still weeks away from returning to the floor for the Sixers or any other team (if traded) for that matter.

The smart move at the moment would be for the Sixers to navigate the trade market and listen. It doesn’t really hurt to listen – even more so if you believe that Fultz really wants out and has made it apparent to the organization.

And, as expected, that’s reportedly what they’ve been doing. Interestingly enough, what they’ve reportedly been asking teams for a first-round pick in exchange for Markelle Fultz. On top of all that, they’re also not entirely sure if they should trade him. According to this report, the front office is reportedly split on a decision.

"[via the Philadelphia Inquirer]The ownership group also isn’t in total agreement with what do with Fultz, according to league sources.…A league source said the Sixers don’t want to part ways with Fultz unless a first-round pick is packaged in a deal for him. And they’re not talking about a late first-rounder, either."

I honestly don’t blame the Sixers here. Fultz hasn’t really played a full season of basketball, because of his battle with numerous injuries, and I’m not entirely sure it would be the smartest move in the world.

He’s still extremely young and if this latest injury – being diagnosed with Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome – is really what has been ailing him through his first year-plus of his career, perhaps Philly should allow him to rehab and see if he can be a impactful player for this team.

After all, Fultz was supposed to be an x-factor for this team this season – of course, that was before the team acquired Jimmy Butler via trade. However, that’s still very much the case. Adding a healthy – and impactful – Markelle Fultz could be a game-changer for this team, that is currently not even a top 4 team in the Eastern Conference.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sixers hold up on moving Fultz at the moment, especially if not everyone in the front office is on the same page.
