NBA Trade Rumors: Despite all the whispers, the New Orleans Pelicans are still not ready to trade Anthony Davis, not without a fight

Over the last few weeks and months, we’ve heard many rumors regarding the potential departure of Anthony Davis. We’ve heard how the Boston Celtics have long desired him and how LeBron James would love to play with him next year.

Interestingly enough, the New Orleans Pelicans aren’t going to move him without a fight. They’re still not reportedly interested in even entertaining the idea of moving him, and instead are expected to be buyers at this year’s NBA Trade Deadline.

Here’s the official report from ESPN’s Brian Windhorst which states that the Pelicans won’t be big sellers at the deadline. And aren’t going to give up on Davis without a fight.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

"[via ESPN]The Pelicans aren’t interested in trading Davis and instead have been engaged in trade talks to try to improve their team around him. They are currently in 12th in the standings but, as is the nature of the Western Conference, they are just three games out of fourth place."

It’s not surprising that the Pelicans want to make it to the summer to offer Davis the Super Max before moving him. His trade value probably won’t suffer much if they wait a few more months, especially considering that if Davis falls on the trade block there will be a huge bidding war.

Even if Davis were to demand a trade, I’m not sure any team would be low balling the Pelicans. Davis is too good, and there would be too many bidders to play that game with New Orleans. Huge asset holders like the Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers would be involved, including a number of other teams.

This story isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, however perhaps now we can actually let this season play out without any more “trade rumors.” Let’s see how the rest of the year unfolds for the Pelicans and see what they can add in the weeks leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline.

You can almost guarantee that this team won’t stay as it is. They can’t afford to do that, even less so considering all the outside noise that is in the air.
