NBA Trade Rumors: In an attempt to upgrade their roster, the Houston Rockets are shopping Brandon Knight and a first-round pick
The Houston Rockets, for the better part of this season, have been trying to upgrade its roster after getting off to such a slow start. It started with the team jumping in on the Jimmy Butler conversations, but ultimately falling short.
Now, the team is just looking to add depth to the roster in an attempt to overcome some of their most recent injuries and struggles, especially on the defensive end.
While the Rockets may not have the best assets to offer, one package that they’re reportedly offering to almost every team that will listen – and has an intriguing 3-and-D player that could help the Rockets. And that package is centered around Brandon Knight and a first-round pick.

So far, though, no team has bit on the bait.
"[via The Athletic]The Rockets have been looking to add another wing to the roster. Ideally, another veteran to help stabilize the rotation and provide consistent 3-point shooting and perimeter defense. They have made calls, offering Knight and a first-round pick. There have been no takers. Houston is looking to include itself and participate in multi-team deals, with an attempt to exchange assets to facilitate the addition of a veteran wing, league sources told The Athletic"
Knight has only appeared in five games this season, and is only averaging eight minutes per contest in those games. There simply isn’t much of a role for him to play in Houston right now and the Rockets are trying to use his contract as a possible asset.
The only real problem with that is the fact that he still has one more year left on his contract after this season, and that’s made it a bit complicated. It would be one thing if he were expiring after this season, but he’s not.
Plus, the team’s first-round pick isn’t very valuable. Especially if you believe they’re going to continue to be a good team for the foreseeable future – and despite their recent struggles, they’ll at the very least be a decent playoff team. That doesn’t really bode well for them moving that pick in any meaningful way.
Houston is desperate to make a move, I’m just not sure they have the ammunition to get one done.
